(You may read Genesis 37-50 for a more in depth understanding)
I am inspired to write on this topic after reading the story of Joseph. For those of you that are unfamiliar with this story I will provide a brief overview for you. Basically Joseph was the son of Rachel & Jacob (whose name was later changed to Israel). Joseph had another brother: Benjamin in which was younger.
Out of all of Jacob’s children he loved Joseph the most because he was the son of his old age (Genesis 37:3). And of course when Joseph’s other brothers noticed this they hated Joseph for being favored. Now, this was no secret, Joseph knew his brothers hated him because Genesis 37:4 (AMP) states: “But when his brothers saw that their father loved (Joseph) more than all of his brothers, they hated him & could not say, Peace (in friendly greeting) to him or speak peaceably to him.
What that means is that they didn’t go around hiding the fact that they disliked him. Not speaking peaceably to someone means they were not so friendly in their gestures, & conversations toward them.
Not long after, Joseph had a dream in which he made a mistake by sharing it with his brothers. His dream was “we were binding sheaves in the field & behold, my sheaf (large bundle of grain) arose & stood upright, & behold your sheaves stood around about my sheaf & bowed down!”
Now, what you think happened after this? They immediately loved Joseph & embraced him as their brother? Uh no! They hated him even the more! I could imagine the brothers thinking, ‘who does he think he is’ and jealousy rose up in them.
Joseph has yet another dream & goes & shares it with his brothers again! He just didn’t get enough the first go around huh? Apparently not! So, this time, Joseph stated “Behold, (this time not only eleven stars (but also) the sun & the moon bowed down & did reverence to me!” (Genesis 37:9)
So, long story short after all of this Joseph’s brothers plotted to kill him but ended up selling him into slavery & painted a picture to their father as if Joseph was killed& eaten by a wild animal.
Joseph went through many things during his transition of being lied on by Potiphar’s wife because she wanted to sleep with him but because of his character & loyalty to Potiphar he refused & she lied & said he raped her.
But even in the midst of all that Joseph had to bare, the Lord was with him & those around Joseph were favored simply because of his presence. I will pause here for a second to say you don’t have to worry about that unsaved husband or unsaved wife for because of the anointing that is upon your life the Lord is going to fulfill every promise that he has told you! Don’t get weary but simply walk in the anointing that is upon your life & maximize your authority! We are not weak nor are we wimps! For we must also stop allowing Satan & his demons to talk us to death by filling our spirits with a bunch of negativity! But speak the Word of God over your own life & walk in VICTORY!
Back to the story: To sum it up Joseph was basically ‘the man’ & when the famine came his area (Egypt) was the only place that had food. So his brothers came to buy food & Joseph recognized them but they don’t recognize him. Instead of Joseph charging them for their food he gave it to them free but discreetly.
I know you are like, what? He gave them food after the way they treated him & all the hell he had to go through because of them??? That’s right! Love covers a multitude of sins! The Word of God works when you work the word!
The revelation I gained from this story is when the Lord speaks a word over your life even when we release it pre-maturely the Lord has a way of still fulfilling it! So that’s why I titled this: WHAT GOD HAS FOR YOU, IS FOR YOU because there is nothing anyone can do to stop the hand of God from moving upon your life!
I have heard the saying, ‘I don’t tell people what God shows me because I don’t want them to block me from receiving it! I’m praying one thing & they are praying against me!’ To me, this is an immature statement because real believers know that when we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us there is no good thing the Lord will withhold from us & every area of our lives will be prosperous.
Now, is it wise to keep some things to yourself? Of course! Some things should be only between you & God & released when you are led by the Holy Spirit to do so!
Another lesson I learned was that as the Bible states we are to always overcome evil with good. No matter how others treat us & do things to harm us we are to still pray & speak blessings over their life! This is what spiritual maturity is all about!
It is time for us to grow up & become ‘dead’ to things people are trying to do to us because the Word of God states that no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper! Therefore, if it is meant for you to have that position on your job, that house, new car, or even for those that are believing God for a husband, whatever is meant for you is for you! This is why it is important to do as Matthew 6:33 states which is ‘seek ye first the kingdom of God & His righteousness & all other things shall be added unto you’. Basically this is saying all that we need is in Jesus & this is why having a relationship with him versus just an experience is vital in our daily lives!
