I’m sure you would agree that we all have something in our life that we need to rid ourselves of.
Whether it is a bad habit such as lying, smoking, cursing, or willlfully sinning (such as fornication, masturbation; etc).
As I was studying the book of Genesis I learned that Genesis is a book of new beginnings as well as opportunities.
In life our decisions help determine our success or failure.
We are to choose faith over fear, truth over deception, light over darkness, love over hatred, forgiveness over bitterness, peace over strife, and patience over anxiousness.
Life is full of choices and the decisions we make not only affect us but those that are connected to us as well.
If you find yourself today struggling with an addiction or a bad habit or something such as a bad attitude allow God to deal with you in those areas because no matter if it appears to be a small thing, if it is left undealt with it can grow and expand out of control.
As children of God it is important that we allow Him to not only purge us but to also prune us.
Pruning is vital in our walk with the Lord for it simply means to cut away from. In order to develop fruitfulness in our lives there must be some cutting away of things that hinder or stunt our growth which is sin.
I remember a time when I really loved God with all of my heart but I was still struggling in my flesh where it pertained to fornication and each time I would have sex with a man that was not my husband it was as if the void I was already feeling seemed to enlarge.
I believe that was because sin was advancing in my life and God cannot dwell in an unclean temple. So actually the more I would sin, I began to lose more of the Spirit of God that dwelled within me.
The void I felt, I believe came from me trying to fill that area with something and/or someone else where it was originally designed only for God to dwell.
See, what we must realize even as single women (for those that are): We must allow God to make us whole even now as we wait patiently on our mate.
We must allow God and his word to fill those innermost areas where we desire to be loved, held and caressed.
For God can rock us so that the desire for a mate can be tamed until the appointed time (I am speaking in relation to our flesh).
So, today I challenge you to no longer be hooked on your struggle for Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly! There is freedom in Jesus so let’s change how we think and accept our freedom and enjoy life sinfree! Trust me it is possible all we have to do is work at it!
