3 Ways to Remain Focused in a Distraction-Filled World
Have you ever found yourself saying, “I’ll do it tomorrow,” or “I’ll finish it as soon as I do…” I too have been guilty of putting off tasks for tomorrow what I could have actually completed today had I chose to remain focused and gave each day direction as I know to do.
In the world we live in everything is moving at such a fast paced, life is given and can instantly be taken away in an instance. You can have a great marriage for years (or so you think) then come home to find empty draws, empty closet and no money in your account. The child you worked so hard to raise all of a sudden begins to act completely out of character after you have done all you could to steer them in the right direction.
Life happens to all of us but one thing you must learn to do is develop a tenacious spirit and refuse to give up no matter what. In spite of confusion, hurt, pain, misunderstandings and even rebukes I had to learn how to not fall apart to the point where I would allow myself to forget the divine power of Jesus which resides on the inside of me.
See, in a life full of distractions you must be careful for the media will try to tell you who you are, what you should wear, how you should handle your marriage, run your household, operate your business and so forth. As believers we operate off of a different frequency and it is entitled, the frequency of the Holy Ghost. Our steps are ordered by the Lord and we shall not be swayed by the opinions, beliefs or directives of others.
No matter what may be going on around you at this present time you must know that you are still entitled to have peace. Choose peace. Embrace God’s peace. Know that He loves you and you don’t have to be taken off course but you can get through your process by remaining focused and being real with God as it relates to what you are feeling and experiencing.
Here are 3 ways to Remain Focused in a Distraction Filled World:
- Know Your Purpose & Identity: Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” God created you for a purpose and everything Jesus did he did so intentionally. There is great work for you to do that is why distractions are coming from the left and the right to get you off course but choose to focus on your purpose and assignment and refuse to miss what God has for you at this very moment in time. Every moment we waste is another moment we will never experience again. Time is valuable and is the one thing we can never get back. Sure, God can and will redeem the time if necessary but why not take advantage of today by living life on purpose!Colossians 1:16 goes on to tell us that we were created by God for God therefore never waste time trying to impress others for He should be the only one you desire to please for it is He that determines your destiny.
Knowing who you are is the key to staying focused. You must know that you can do anything you set your mind to and the only person that can stop you is you! We are our biggest enemy not the devil, not our haters, not those who dislike us, but we ourselves!
- Give Each Day Direction: No matter what happens in the midst of your day when you go in with a plan and a mind determined to execute all you have set out to do nine times out of ten you will get more accomplished. Individuals who just float through their day and do things as they think of them often do not finish what they start and seldomly experience success. Successful people are forward thinkers, intentional and not easily moved. They know their assignment and will allow nothing to move them out of position until the task is complete.
- Guard Your Ear & Eye Gate: You must be careful what you choose to look at for your ear and eye gate lead to the very depths of your soul and can enter into your heart. We are instructed in Proverbs 4:23 to guard our heart with all diligence for it determines the course of life. We are also informed in I John 2: 16, “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of this world.” Can I tell you a secret? The world has nothing but temporal things to offer you. Sure you can have all the bling you want, live in the finest homes, drive the luxary cars, have diamonds around your neck and Christian Louboutin stilettos on your feet but what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and then lose his soul (Matthew 16:26)? It’s not worth it!
In this hour you want to seek the Lord for substance, for keeping power. It’s time to go behind the veil, beyond the surface and seek the deep things of God. It is in God in which your sanity lies. It is within God where your peace is and your desire to keep on going will remain. Anything outside of God has an end date, but in God all He has to offer us will last for eternity.
Take a moment and write down the above key points and keep them close to remind yourself to remain focused and know that you have what it takes to do all God has placed before you!
